BJAN elects Daniel Obi as new BJAN chairman

Journalists in brands and marketing communication under the aegis of Brand Journalists Association of Nigeria (BJAN) on Friday, December 6 elected new executive to steer the ship of the association to the Promised land.


In the election, Daniel Obi was elected as the Chairman BJAN, thereby ushering in a new era of leadership aimed at strengthening the association’s influence and promoting the highest standards in brand journalism.


In his acceptance speech, Obi expressed deep appreciation to BJAN members for their confidence in him, emphasizing the importance of unity and visionary direction in achieving the association’s goals.


“The strength of BJAN lies in our unity and dedication to amplifying stories that matter,” Obi stated. “Together, we will work to build a vibrant, ethical, and resilient association that reflects the highest ideals of our profession.”


Obi highlighted his strategic priorities for BJAN, which include: Promoting Ethical Journalism: Upholding integrity and professional standards in reporting; Investing in capacity-building programs to enhance members’ skills; Strengthening ties among members and with industry stakeholders and Preparing members to thrive in a rapidly evolving media landscape.


Obi called on brands and marketing communication stakeholders to continue their support, noting that such partnerships are vital for impactful storytelling. “We are partners in progress, and your support strengthens our ability to deliver impactful narratives,” he said.


The newly elected chairman also praised his predecessors for their foundational contributions to BJAN, crediting them with setting the stage for continued progress.


He recognized the efforts of brand journalists across Nigeria, commending their role in fostering accountability, storytelling, and giving voice to marginalized communities.


The new exco being led by Obi as chairman has Lukman Ishau as Vice Chairman; Adedayo Odulaja as General Secretary; Amechi Obiakpu as Assistant General Secretary; Olufemi Adeyemi: Financial Secretary; Melvin Udosen: Treasurer; Adekanmi Fadare: Auditor; Stanley Ihedigbo: Chief Information Officer while Rhoda Ogunseye is the Welfare Officer.


Reiterating his pledged of unwavering dedication to BJAN members, Obi promised to lead with transparency and inclusivity. “I will stand with you, work alongside you, and ensure our association thrives."
