Accesstech Innovation partners MTN to promote inclusive games for persons with disabilities

Accesstech Innovation and Research Centre, a leading social enterprise in assistive technology and digital skills training, joined forces with MTN Nigeria to celebrate the International Day of Persons with Disabilities (IDPD) with an inclusive games event.


The event, which took place on 3rd December 2024, brought together persons with disabilities and MTN Nigeria staff members to engage in friendly competitions of board games such as Chess, Scrabble, Draught, Dominoes, and Whot Card. 



The aim was to foster interaction, understanding, and inclusion between individuals with and without disabilities.


In his statement before the commencement of the games, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Accesstech Innovation, Mr. Opeolu Stephen Akinola, said: “This inclusive games event highlights the desire of persons with disabilities to not only participate in the workforce but also to be included in recreational activities.



“We are proud to partner with an inclusive organization like MTN Nigeria to amplify the voices of persons with disabilities and create a more inclusive future.”


Accesstech Innovation and Research Centre, according to Akinola, is committed to empowering persons with disabilities through technology and education. 



By organizing events like this, the organization aims to raise awareness about the challenges and potential of individuals with disabilities and promote a more inclusive society.


The event, which was filled with atmosphere of excitement, laughter and a shared passion for the games, was indeed a resounding success. The event drew a diverse crowd of game enthusiasts, including blind, deaf, wheelchair, and walking aid users.
